Pinterest is a social media platform where users can “discover recipes, style inspiration, and home hacks,” according to Pinterest.

Nikki Canning writes in “The Beginner’s Guide to Using Pinterest for Business,” that Pinterest allows users to Pin “an image that is searched and saved” by other users and it links back to other websites. Canning explains that the platform is useful to generate “traffic and sales.”

Journalists are using Pinterest to reach a new audience. Roxanne Hack uses Pinterest to follow businesses and other publications “in hopes of reaching new audiences who will click” to her website, reports Poynter. Hack says her strategy is not about page views, but about being where her audience is, which is online.
